The Columbia, a fourth-generation, family-owned hotel overlooking Kensington Gardens, has been home to emerging artists in central London since 1975. Our five Victorian townhouses are open day and night. The ground floor and open public lounge offers relaxed drinking and dining, while our private lounges and event spaces are there to hire for something more intimate. And it all happens alongside our curated arts and events programme designed to celebrate our artists in residence, and other emerging artistry.
Whether you’re looking for a place to crash for the night, or keen to stay a little longer while exploring London, we have 83 affordable rooms in all shapes and sizes.
The Columbia is a casual all-day destination with an open bar sitting at the heart of the ground floor. Enjoy coffee and snacks by day, alongside one of our art exhibitions. At dusk, our lounge and bar merge to offer one unique setting for drinking and dining. With an eclectic seasonal menu, taking influences from the building’s rich history, enjoy a mix of small and sharing plates alongside our signature cocktails and natural wines. With over 40 years supporting upcoming musicians and artists, music is in our DNA. Come the weekend, expect DJs, live music and local vinyl legends late into the night.
Our eight private lounges can host from six to thirty people for relaxed dinner or drinks. It’s a minimum-spend approach in these lounges, with no hire fee, so you can save your money for the more important things (like food and drink). For private dining, we have a range of intimate rooms for hosting dinner parties from 10 to 30 guests. Plus, we’re a stone’s throw away from Paddington, Lancaster Gate and Notting Hill, handy for those travelling from across London and further afield.
Singles for singles, or quads for sharing and everything in between. Our rooms come with free Wi-Fi, tea, coffee and daily housekeeping. If you’re visiting London, or just want a place to rest after one of our events, you’ll struggle to beat our price and location. Oh, and we like dogs, so they’re welcome too.
